Since 2023, visual artist Julia Gunther and documentarian Nick Schönfeld have undertaken several journeys to Tristan da Cunha to record the patterns of everyday existence. While they were present, NPR featured their piece "The Okalolies of Old Year's Night," examining the island's distinctive New Year's Eve customs. In 2025, they went back to proceed with their project and assist in enlarging the local historical records.
